No News, Just Pictures

Quick update to add some past-due pictures to the blog. Some of you have already noticed that I added a few pictures to the "Trip to Tokyo" post in our archives... check them out. I still have to edit, crop, and add pictures from our most recent trip to Kamakura to see the Daibutsu (Great Buddha) and from our trip last weekend to Yokohama, but it'll have to be later this weekend. I did want to share one now though, from the play room at the Navy Lodge back when we were staying there. The little girl is the daughter of other guests at the lodge and was born within a week of Josh. Sorry it's a bit blurry, but I'm still trying to figure out the new camera... and when that shot was taken I had owned the camera for less than 24 hours.

I've also add a few pictures of our home, in case you are curious. These shots were taken within our first couple of days of moving here, so all of the furniture you see in the pictures is the loaner stuff that we got from the government, which was moved out when our actual furniture arrived. But at least you can get a feel for what the rooms look like. Also, I shot these using a wide-angle lens, so there's a false sense of "space enlargement"... but you'll get the idea anyway. By the way, the Japanese characters on one of the pictures is the sign on the door of our Japanese toilet room. Don't forget, you can click any image and it'll enlarge for you. Enjoy!

Nice house! It's big, yah? I especially like the tatami rooms and the view from the master bedroom.

Does your house have an osento? The deep heated tub just for soaking?

That would be relaxing...

Your house is lovely!

The pictures make me homesick for Yokosuka! Go down to Mikasa mall and eat at the beef bowl for me! :)

From what I've gathered, the house is fairly big for a Japanese-style house, but the pictures are exagerated also with the wide-angle lens that I used to shoot the pictures. The place is around 1300 square feet in living area, which is nice.

Other houses in the neighborhood are huge and dwarf ours, though.

Holy crap, is that the ocean literally across the street? Sick!!

You're place looks phenominal. If the bird flu keeps us out of SE Asia, we're coming to Japan.

Our China schedule looks like this:
10 May Arrive in Hong Kong (spend 3-4 days in HK/Guanzhou)

18-22 May Shanghai (visiting a college buddy)

We get into Beijing between the 26th and 28th of May

1 June (in the evening) Depart Beijing to New Delhi

Let me know if you'd be interesting in meeting in Beijing and seeing the great wall.

Hi, we're headed to Yoko in a few weeks and are resigned to living off-base due to long housing list. My husband is adament about not living in Ikego (American suburbia). I found your great site with a search for Mabori Kaigan. How is the commute into base? We're looking for a big place (two O-4 and O-5 officer allowances) close in and in a family friendly area for our two school age kids (need to be close to Sullivans schl bus route.)
Any tips you can give would be greatly appreciated. Doumo arigatoo.
