Kannonzaki Slide

One of our favorite local spots on a clear day is Kannonzaki Koen (Park). The park is located down the coastal route, Route 16, from base, probably about 10km away or so. The park itself is mostly a large hill covered in walking trails, children play areas, flower fields, and panoramic view points. One of our favorite areas in the park is a playground with a long roller-slide. Since we recently purchased a Sony Handycam DVD video recorder, we thought we'd give it a test shot today.

Check out the video below or click through to the Google Video direct link. Warning, it's about 6 minutes long so after you hit play it might take a bit of time for it to load up. Enjoy!

Hi!
I just wanted to say that I love your blog site!! I am new to this and have some questions (like how you added your josh pics link and how you choose the fonts on the side bar menu, etc...)
Interestingly enough, we are moving to Yokosuka from San Diego in a few short months!

Cheers!

Your new video camera works great and didn't really even take very long to upload! That looks like a fun park!

Hey Eric,

It's fairly easy to get to the park from base. The challenge is finding the slide once you're at the park.

To get to Kannonzaki, simply leave either gate and head left on the coastal road (rt 16), like you're heading for Homes or Livin. Keep going down the coastal road for about 10 to 15 minutes (maybe 8km or so), following the signs for Kannonzaki Koen / Kannonzaki Park. Eventually, you'll see Kannonzaki Rest House, a two story building, on your left... at a traffic signal. Opposite the Rest House on the right side is a parking lot. That's where we generally park. At the back of the lot, there's a trail that leads up the hill (that's at the beginning of our video). Basically, you just have to follow the trail up. There's a few playgrounds at the top. Once you get to the first playground, turn right and follow the path up another five minute walk or so and you'll get to another playground with a pirate ship for kids to climb on/in and slide down. Just beyond the pirate ship is the slide.

Hope that helps!
